Cardiac MRI Anatomical Atlas

The images for the atlas were obtained using the Siemens 1.5 Tesla Vision MRI scanner at Manukau Radiology Institute Ltd. Images were taken from a normal healthy 28 year old male volunteer with no known cardiac condition. The images were collected in one 2 hour session.

Anatomical Images

A Siemens T1-weighted dark blood breath-hold sequence was selected on the basis of the high blood-muscle contrast that the sequence yields. The images are ECG-gated time-averaged (15 heartbeats) end-diastolic images. Each image required a separate breath-hold (only one image was obtained at a time).

The anatomical series contain no slice gap and have a 7mm slice thickness. The field of view is as follows:

Series
FOV (mm)
axial
280
coronal
340
sagittal
280
long axis
300
short axis
300

Scout Images

For these a Siemens non-breath-hold sequence was used. The scouts have a slice thickness of 8mm and a FOV of 400mm.
